ABOUT US

Elephant Garden Camp is co-owned by Eric Ole Kalama and his wife An Schamp.

Eric grew up in Olgulului Group Ranch, with Amboseli National Park at the very heart of this Group Ranch, and has been passionate about wildlife his whole life. After working a number of years as camp staff at the Amboseli Elephant Research Project of Cynthia Moss, where he spent his free time studying local birds and other wildlife, he became a professional guide in Amboseli. After working as a camp guide for 10 years, he started his own company offering gamedrives in Amboseli in 2016. Eric is very passionate about elephants and is known by many as the Elephant Man. He likes to refer to the elephants as his cows.

Because of his efforts towards local conservation, Eric has been appointed as Honorary Warden for the Southern Region in Kenya. After years of offering gamedrives in the area, he opened his own camp in July 2022.

An spends part of her time in Kenya and part in Belgium where she is working as an airline pilot.
